Former Exim dancer Emma Pendle presents her first solo work:
Emma is a dancer. She is pretty good, but she will only tell you she is okay (she didn’t write this). She has never made a piece by herself before. Not like this. This is a pretty lonely experience. So really she is relying on you. Relying on you to make her feel welcome. To make her feel okay. It’s not just about her though. She wants you to have a good time too. It’s a mutual relationship. Give and take. Take and give. It might well be poignant for a moment of two. It might be grand and majestic. She might say some words. Or she might say it all with a lunge or a roll or a slide. An exploration into presentation of self. This piece draws upon Emma’s experiences of being female in two parallel disciplines. Approximate run time: 20 minutes |
